The Thule Sonic XL roof box will fit with most cross bars. To find out if it'll work with the Tesla roof rack you can check the size of the bars. The box fits bars that are no larger than 3-1/2 inches wide by 1-11/16 inches tall. It should have no problem fitting a Whispbar rack.
For a roof rack to fit your 2014 Tesla Model S you can go with a Thule WingBar Evo rack:
53 inch WingBars # TH711400 (silver) or # TH711420 (black)

The EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4" # 306-X7202 you were looking at is confirmed to fit the new 2021 Tesla Model S and is a great option due to the hidden crosstube that means when the only the receiver itself will be visible once installed, but it is set apart from other hitches as the receiver can be removed when not in use making the hitch completely invisible.

According to my research the Thule Motion XT # TH629706 will fit the Whispbar crossbars on your 2017 Tesla Model S.
For complete tailgate clearance you need 47-1/2" from your front crossbar to the line where the tailgate and your roof meets. This measurement is typically used for SUVs and vans though which have more of an abrupt stop where the hatch meets the roof so it might be a little different for your Model S.
I have attached some pictures and a review video for you to check out. view full answer...
